お客さん：お嬢さん、前に会った時よりだいぶ大きくなりましたね。
Ojousan, maeni
atta tokiyori daibu ookiku narimashitane. ‘Your
daughter has grown a lot since I saw her last.’
ホスト（主人）：今年で中三なんですよ。
Kotoshide chuusan
nandesuyo. ‘She is in her 9th
grade this year.’
お客さん：お母さんに似てきれいになって。
Okaasanni nite
kireini natte. ‘She
looks like her mom and so beautiful.’
ホスト（主人）：いや、僕に似ればもうちょっとはましだったのに。 Iya, bokuni
nireba mou chotto mashi dattanoni. ‘Well, if
she looked more like me, she would be a bit better.’ [refusing a
compliments in jest]
