Dialogue 2

上司：木村さん、来週の土曜日なんだけど、空いてる？ Kimura-san, raishuuno doyoubi nandakedo, aiteru? ‘Kimura-san, are you free next Saturday?’

従業員：土曜日ですか？うーん、どうしてですか？ Doyoubi desuka? Uun, doushite desuka? ‘Saturday ? Well, why?’

上司：あの、クラシックのコンサートのチケットが一枚余ってるんだよ。だから、一緒にどうかなあ、と思って。 Ano, kurasshikkuno konsaatono chikettoga ichimai amatterundayo. Dakara isshoni doukanaa, toomotte. ‘Well, I have an extra ticket for a classical music concert. I wondered if you could come with me.’

従業員：うーん、ああ、クラシックはちょっと苦手なんですよね。 Uun, aa, kurasshikkuwa chotto negatenan desuyone. ‘Well, classical music is not really my favorite.’

上司：ああ、そうなんだ。あの、うちの家族に急用が入っちゃって、だから一緒にどうかなあ、と思ったんだけど。 Aa, sou nanda. Ano, uchino kazokuni kyuuyouga haicchatte, dakara isshoni doukanaa, tomottan dakedo. ‘Oh, it’s not? I see. Well, my family has an emergency, so I thought you might want to come.’

従業員：ああ、そうですか、すみません、あと、ちょっとやっぱり土曜日はあの、都合が悪いので、申し訳ありませんけど。 Aa, sou desuka, sumimasen, ato, chotto yappari doyoubiwa ano, tsugouga waruinode, moushiwake arimasen kedo. ‘Well, I’m sorry, but Saturday isn’t a good day for me, either.’

上司：それならしょうがないね。 Sore nara shouga naine. ‘I understand, then.’

従業員：はい。 Hai. ‘Good.’
